Seattle-based Starbucks is dwelling in to the world of mobile marketing. The company has just launched an iPhone app, which allows customers to pay for coffees by scanning their iPhone.
The app essentially works like a Starbucks Card. It contains a mobile bar code, which is swiped at the till.
It is currently available for trial in US Silicon Valley and Seattle stores. The iPhone coffee buying app will later be available internationally if successful. We don't see why it would not be! The app makes is very easy to buy a quick coffee on the go - and it is likely to increase customer loyalty. Users can view their iphone Starbuck Card balance and transaction history directly via the app. Money can be added to the app via major credit cards.
Starbucks is launching the together with the MyStarbucks app - another iPhone application, which enable customers to locate the closest Starbucks and to look up nutritional information of products.
