Mobile apps: Fri 4th September 2009
Indian fine art auctioneer Saffronars are, according to Reuters, adding this year's autumn auction to a mobile application.
The company hopes to inspire more bids and overcome the economic downturn by using the latest technology. CEO Dinesh Vazirani describes the app as the first fine-art auctioneer application.

The app allows collectors to preview sales, make bids and view auction results and it "enables collectors to engage with us in more places and with fewer boundaries," said Vazirani.
The autumn action consists of 95 contemporary pieces produced by artists such as Akbar Padamsee, Subodh Gupta, Surendran Nair, S.H. Raza and Manjit Bawa, and is estimated to generate $4.5 million revenue.
