Juniper Research has just published a new report estimating that globally mobile coupons redemption will grow to a staggering $6 billion by 2014.
By then they predict that 1 in 10 mobile subscribers will be using coupons.
The Mobile Coupons & NFC Smart Posters: Strategies, Applications & Forecasts 2009-2014 report is forecasting the next six years of redemption rates, values and incremental ARPU for all mobile coupons, NFC coupons and NFC smart posters.
The technology is largely out there already and NFC trials indicates "high levels of user acceptance", but what is holding the industry back is, according to the report, a lack of willingness to learn this new method of making transactions.
Howard Wilcox, Senior Analyst at Juniper Research and lead report author comments on the usage of mobile coupons: "Marketers can use the mobile device as the ultimate personal marketing channel. It is almost permanently switched on and physically with the consumer. This makes a great opportunity for brands and marketing agencies to access clients immediately, driving footfall and encouraging an instant decision."
