Coca-Cola goes ahead with on-pack mobile credit give-away promotion in the UK. Bottle and cans of Fanta, Dr Pepper and Sprite drinks now carry "Every Pack Gets 50p" promotional codes, which will allow users to redeem a top up of 50p free mobile credit with every purchase - up to eight times.
Low cost, worldwide SMS - from 4.5 per message
The promotion is made available across all mobile networks (O2, T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone, 3, Virgin, Asda Mobile, Blyk and Tesco Mobile) and the credit can be claimed online or via SMS. The sales promotion is linked to the Dr Pepper TV ad campaign as well as outdoor, sampling and online activity.
This campaign is interesting; Coca-Cola are in essence buying mobile credit and passing it onto someone else, which up until this point has been technically impossible. However, as a global company they are working with the networks to offer this promotion. If successful, then more brands will perhaps try a similar tactic.
