US Government's mobile public reporting app

apps: Thurs 22nd October 2009

This is very exciting: the new CitySourced US app handles nationwide report management. The public can use the app to conveniently report hassles via their mobile. It allows users to easily add pictures of the problem whilst it records their GPS position:

"CitySourced is a real time mobile civic engagement tool. CitySourced provides a free, simple, and intuitive tool empowering citizens to identify civil issues (potholes, graffiti, trash, snow removal, etc.) and report them to city hall for quick resolution; an opportunity for government to use technology to save money and improve accountability to those they govern; and a positive, collaborative platform for real action"

The app gives councils a precise and quick monitoring tool. There's no doubt that this is a much easier way to report problems and so it will undoubtedly encourage the public to be more engaged and actually make the complaints.
