Apps: Thurs 18th November 2009
Bus company Arriva has just launched a m-ticket app, which allow users to pay via mobile phones. This is certainly very useful and something I have been longing for when fumbling for coins at the bus stop!
The service was made available across 1,000 routes and 4,500 buses throughout England, Scotland and Wales earlier this week. However, m-tickets are not yet available on Transport for London buses.
Once registered, users will be able to purchase daily, weekly and four-weekly tickets via their mobile. The application can be downloaded on arrivabus.co.uk/m-ticket. It is available for GPRS phone but not currently BlackBerrys and iPhones.
Ticket can be bought at any time and stored on the handset. Travellers must simply activate the ticket for the journey by selecting 'Use Ticket' and then show it as displayed on the handset screen to the bus driver.
Ariva is offering 10% off 4-week tickets to promote the new service.
